CTEK MXS 5.0 or CT5 Time To Go?

Same charge profile, same current. The difference is the display – and whether it is worth the extra depends on how you use the charger.

Jul 2, 2026 · 4 min

What actually differs

Both charge at 5 A and run CTEK's eight-step program. The MXS 5.0 shows its state with LEDs; the CT5 Time To Go shows remaining charge time in hours and minutes on an LCD.

The CT5 handles slightly larger batteries – up to 160 Ah against the MXS 5.0's 110 Ah – but for cars, motorcycles and boats that rarely matters.

Which to choose

If the charger lives permanently in the garage doing winter maintenance charging, the display earns nothing. Take the MXS 5.0.

If you move the charger between vehicles and want to know whether you can drive in an hour or in five, the CT5 is worth the difference.
